COMPLETING INFRARED THERMOMETER PROJECT

COMPLETING INFRARED THERMOMETER PROJECT By: Arslan Dogar Infrared thermometer was the most challenging project assigned during the Industrial Practical Training period, it required us to code the Arduino program, testing the code by building actual circuit, soldering the circuit and diagnosis, 3d printing the housing design and finally fitting the circuit into the housing and testing. Initial Testing of the Circuit Some of these procedures proved to be very challenging and caused a lot of delay to the completion of the project, extending the time span to approximately 3 weeks. The main challenge that we faced during the project was the soldering and diagnosis of the soldered circuit, initially the delay had been caused by female headers not being available….

REVISIT TO MUHUMBILI NATIONAL HOSPITAL

REVISIT TO MUHUMBILI NATIONAL HOSPITAL By: Arslan Dogar The first visit to Muhimbili National Hospital was amied at needs findings for the hospital which resulted in alot of projects that we could work on. These projects included; the bubble CPAP (continuous positive air pressure) machine, wall sanction machine, the length board, automatic chest compressor and others. The project that we were assigned to complete was the Bubble CPAP machine for pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at the hospital. There was an urgent need for the bubble CPAP machine in this unit of the hospital as it didn’t even operate a single CPAP machine. Basically Bubble CPAP is a non-invasive ventilation strategy for newborns with infant respiratory distress syndrome (IRDS). It…

DESIGN STUDIO ACTIVITIES DURING INDUSTRIAL PRACTICAL TRAINING

DESIGN STUDIO ACTIVITIES DURING INDUSTRIAL PRACTICAL TRAINING Dogar, Arslan A. September 28th 2020  The Industrial Practical Training (IPT) began with orientation of the Design Studio at Dar-es Salaam Institute of Technology. It began with a fun and creative activity of building a tower out of pieces of wires which was aimed at estimating the skill and creativity level. This activity was followed by a brief introduction of the activities that will be carried out during the entire IPT period which include laser cutting, 3D printing, Arduino programming, diagnosis of various equipment, visits to various health institutions and other possible tasks.  The following day, an introduction to laser cutting was conducted which included the safest and most reliable procedure to operate…
