Thoughtful waste management in makerspaces Waste is an often inevitable by-product of design. The design process taught in the studio encourages student engineers to try out many ideas, iteratively refine existing solutions over time and make many mistakes. These activities lead to the creation of waste in multiple forms – software files, printed paper, soldered boards, 3D printed models, wood, metal and acrylic offcuts – all of which could be destined for the trashcan. September 28th 2020  The Industrial Practical Training (IPT) began with orientation of the Design Studio at Dar-es Salaam Institute of Technology. It began with a fun and creative activity of building a tower out of pieces of wires which was aimed at estimating the skill and creativity level. GETTING FAMILIAR… This week was a little bit challenging because most of us were not familiar with the learning environment. Most of us came with our own expectations but upon arrival, it was so cool and fascinating at the same time, to meet new people with almost similar and different expectations from me.
